The Seven Churches: Pergamum

In this week's sermon, Pastor Jon discusses the church of Pergamum. We are reminded how Christ is the Living Word and his followers spread this word. In this week's text, John commends the church of Pergamum for remaining faithful despite living in a city full of idolatry and sin. However, he also rebukes them for tolerating false teachings, particularly those associated with Balaam and the Nicolatians, which lead people into immortality and idol worship. We learn how false doctrine leads to a false God and a false security. Jesus calls them to repent, warning that if they don't, He will come and fight against them with the "sword of His mouth" symbolizing divine judgement.
